Magical Moments

Last Friday Brysen and I went on a date. And it was almost magical. He took up to this old but incredibly awesome restaurant called “The Greenery” at the Rainbow Gardens.

It all started when we walked into this little restaurant that was covered in small lights and real trees. We were seated at a cute little table and had half of the restaurant to ourselves. We heard a familiar song playing and were jamming out to it while we were waiting for our appetizers to arrive.

Our nachos were not the typical Chile’s nachos. These were your favorite homemade nachos covered in cheese with some awesome salsa to go with it. Then I looked over and noticed that the song we were listening to was not being played on a radio or a Juke Box. We had a real performer sitting against the wall, playing her piano and singing her heart out.

We started cheering for her to let her know that we appreciated her musical abilities. Apparently she liked our reaction because she came over to us and let us pick some of our favorite songs for her to play. We had some incredible food that tasted just like my mom’s homemade recipes while we laughed and talked. We sang along to the songs we knew and bobbed our heads to the ones we weren’t familiar with.

My favorite part of the night was when Brysen and I stood up to leave and all of a sudden we were dancing to a song. It was a lot of fun spinning and dipping around the tables. The performer started laughing and thanked us for enjoying life and knowing how to have fun.

Once we had paid for dinner we walked around through the rest of the store that looked almost like a museum. There was so much random stuff all over the place and it was super neat to look at. I could have walked through that area for hours just to look at all of that stuff. But alas, we had to head back to my Mother-in-Laws house to get our things and head back to our cute apartment.

I suppose to those who are reading this are thinking, “What makes this date so magical? It’s just another date.” To me it seemed like taking a step back into the past for some reason. Maybe it was a combination of the food and the atmosphere or maybe I’m just crazy. All in all it was probably my most favorite dinner date this whole summer.

In other news, the annual Adaptive Talent Show is over and I am now enjoying my very last week of camp. I'm ready to start teaching again and to go to school for myself. Oh, and for my cruise that's less than a month away!!!

Summer! :)

I love summer. Mostly because I get to watch cute movies and play silly games all day. And I get to go out on fun dates with my husband. This summer has been full of adventures for our little family, most of them a lot of fun.

We were able to be a part of Tia's wedding (mine was much better of course, it wasn't 100 degrees that day) and that was a lot of fun. I am so happy for her and her new husband Eric. Although I wasn't thrilled about standing around in the heat it was a fun day all around. Now I have other married people to hang out with too.

I took Holland to the Zoo to see Rocky Shores with my adaptive kids and we had a blast. Everyone else in the family was pretty jealous and I don't blame them. That exhibit is probably the coolest thing at the entire Zoo, just so ya know.

We spent the Fourth of July with both of our families; the morning was spent in Ogden and then the evening in Magna. Brysen walked the Plain City Parade with Holland and then we hung out around the house until about 1pm. Then it was off to a birthday party and then to Magna for a barbecue and fireworks.

All in all I still enjoyed being married to this crazy guy I married. I love him so much that I've even started cooking for him. According to him Hell is freezing over but that's his way of saying "wow, thanks babe." Our relationship is awesome like that.

In other news, We have officially booked our cruise! We leave on September 2 from Seattle, Washington. I have to admit, I'm rather excited. My goal is to lose all of the weight I've put on since the wedding. Nobody told me that when you get married your chances of getting fat increase. Good thing I like to eat healthy foods as well as crap food.

Brysen decided to try to cut his finger off at work a few weeks ago so we got to go to the doctors together. It was our first visit as a married couple. I have to say, it was rather uneventful unfortunately. I was hoping he would get stitches but he didn't even get glued. Life is so unfair sometimes.

B's work decided to do an Employee Appreciation Day last weekend, something I was extremely okay with. We got to go and see the new Batman movie FOR FREE! I happen to love Batman and I was thrilled when Brysen called me and told me we were going to go. I might have screamed a lot for a long time.

That's it for the Spencer Family for now. I'll post more when I have more pictures to show.

Spring Bliss

As mentioned in the last post, Easter was a blast! I went to Thanksgiving Point with the in-laws, celebrated Easter with them and then had a little mini Easter with Brysen. Here are the wonderful pictures of the Spencer Easter Shenanigans that were promised.

This past Saturday I went to the zoo with the in-laws and it was a blast! I still think that Brysen was just as excited as Holland was, if not more. He was the perfect uncle, catering to Holland’s every whim and making sure she got to see every animal in the zoo. It was rather adorable, not going to lie.

Later that night we went to the Drive-In to see The Avengers and John Carter. We went with our really close friends and had a blast! I was only conscious for the first half of the night but I did hear that we had to restart a friends’ car and that I might have whined about it being slightly chilly (which is not true). Unfortunately there were no pictures taken so you won’t be able to partake in the awesomeness that occurred but I’m sure you can imagine what happened when 8 adults get together and act like teenagers.

That’s all for now people. Hope you have a great life!

Another Month Gone

This past month has been quite busy for the Spencer’s and full of excitement (at least in my opinion, but everything is still new and exciting to me). We have done lots of stuff and nothing all at the same time.
T
o start things off over the past month, Brysen got not only one but two jobs! Hooray!! He is now a full-time Graphic Designer at the Sugarhouse Awning Company and a part time crew member at the Taco Bell just down the street. He seems to enjoy going to work and not spending his days lounging around on the sofa, even if it does mean getting up early with me. He seems to be enjoying both of his jobs, especially the Graphic Design. He’s still getting the hang of things but his co-workers are apparently really cool and he enjoys what he does.

This month we celebrated our first Easter together as a married couple. I got to go down to Thanksgiving point with my new in-laws and spend the day doing all sorts of fun, exciting Easter-ish activities. We had the traditional Easter Egg Hunt (where I might or might not have proceeded to knock small children over to help Kellan get some eggs), we played in the bounce houses, went on a small (yet fun) carriage ride and watched Holland and Kellan ride the horses.

We went home, dyed our Easter eggs and then the next morning had the family Easter Egg Hunt after church. I have to admit, the whole hunting for eggs idea didn’t thrill me because I didn’t want to walk around like an idiot in front of my new family-even though Brysen had told me I’d already done it hundreds of times before. Anyways, when I realized that we were having our hunt outside and that there was money involved, my outlook quickly changed. Granted it was $2 per egg but to a poor married person, that was a lot! We then enjoyed a fabulous Easter dinner, all courtesy of Ida and then spent the evening outside in the sunshine.

I started to work at the Rec Center again and I’m getting more and more excited for summer to start and for school to end. I’m starting to think that teaching a classroom full of 5th graders borders on cruel and unusual punishment when the sun is shining outside. Who really wants to be inside learning about summarizing and how to multiply lots of boring numbers together when you could be playing outside instead?

Anyways, sorry for such a long (and probably boring) post. I promise to post pictures soon so my blog will hopefully be a bit more exciting to read. Have a wonderful life!
